The Copeland Risk Managed Dividend Growth Funds

A tactical approach to Dividend Growth Investing

Copeland Capital Management offers mutual fund versions of its domestic and international Risk Managed Dividend Growth strategies. Both funds combine Copeland’s industry leading expertise in Dividend Growth investing with a rules based tactical approach that signals the funds to exit negatively trending sectors. Both funds have the ability to go to 100% cash in an attempt to preserve principal if enough sectors are trending negatively.

The funds rely on three primary sources of alpha generation:

The Universe of Dividend Growth Stocks, which
we believe outperform over time with less risk

A Rules Based Tactical Sector Signaling Methodology

Both funds aim to provide investors with the following:

  • Principal appreciation
  • A growing dividend income stream
  • Principal protection by having the ability raise cash
    in challenging market environments

Unlike many tactical strategies that rely solely on ETFs as the underlying investments, the Copeland Risk Managed Dividend Growth Fund and International Risk Managed Dividend Growth Fund invest in companies across all capitalization ranges that have consistently increased their dividends. This approach allows the funds to always have an active component deployed even when the tactical inputs have the funds fully invested.

Alpha - A measure of performance on a risk-adjusted basis. Alpha takes the volatility (price risk) of a mutual fund and compares its risk-adjusted performance to a benchmark index. The excess return of the fund relative to the return of the benchmark index is a fund’s alpha.

ETFs - Exchange Traded Funds - An ETF is a type of investment company whose investment objective is to achieve the same return as a particular market index. An ETF is similar to an index fund in that it will primarily invest in the securities of companies that are included in a selected market index. An ETF will invest in either all of the securities or a representative sample of the securities included in the index.

Risk Disclosures - Mutual Funds involve risk including possible loss of principal. There is no assurance that the Fund will achieve its investment objectives. The Fund may invest in MLP’s. Holders of MLP units have limited control and voting rights on matters affecting the partnership. In addition, there are certain tax risks associated with an investment in MLP units and conflicts of interest exist between common unit holders and the general partner, including those arising from incentive distribution payments. The Fund may invest in REIT’s. A REIT's performance depends on the types and locations of the rental properties it owns and on how well it manages those properties. Real estate values rise and fall in response to a variety of factors, including local, regional and national economic conditions, interest rates and tax considerations. The adviser's judgments about the return tracking characteristics of securities may prove incorrect and may not produce the desired results. The fund may invest in small and medium capitalization companies and the value of these company securities may be subject to more abrupt or erratic market movements than those of larger, more established companies or the market averages in general. A higher portfolio turnover will result in higher transactional and brokerage costs. The Fund's performance may be more sensitive to any single economic, business, political or regulatory occurrence than the value of shares of a diversified investment company because as a non-diversified fund, the Fund may invest more than 5% of its total assets in the securities of one or more issuers.
